It is the fact they are part of a much larger boycott, it is having a huge impact and the law will likely be repealed or changed due to said boycott if it is not struck down first.

Wow, that sucks. If one of my favorite bands ever tried to pull that shit, I'd stop listening to them.

Thankfully, most metal bands actually care about their fans and not some stupid political agenda.

Well, I understand that it's a bit shit for the fans, but I mean, musicians aren't just performing monkeys for your pleasure. And if Arizona's doing something they don't agree with, why would they want to perform there? I mean, gigs produce huge revenues, and a fair boost in the economies of venues and the surrounding area. If a lot of musicians, amongst lots of other things boycott the state, it may just make them think twice.

I fucking love it. Musicians can do things like raise money for AIDS (see: Annie Lennox) or sing songs about how much of a dick George Bush was (see: Pink), and people love it. But when it in any way disadvantages them, people are all up in arms about how bull this is. I'm proud of Belinda Carlisle and Pitbull for standing up for their morals.

I completely agree with you there. I know it sucks for you Logan, but try and think about the bigger picture and what good they're trying to do. I'd be damned proud of my favourite artists if they did something like that.

Yeah! I think anybody with high visibility should not be allowed to protest! Yeah, I'm a fan and I'm entitled to a concert, fuck their political beliefs!

Everybody who's suggesting that this is disrespectful to the fans should grow up.

Keep thinking you can make a difference, bub. Never lose that childlike sense of empowerment!

IF the bill gets repealed, it'll be because of constitutionality, not because of some stupid little boycott. Interstate commerce is so common it is almost impossible to make any sort of impact by boycotting a state. That venue will fill that open slot with a new artist in a couple days, and pitbull will book another venue in a couple days. The only people that lose out are the fans.

I don't think I would make a difference with a personal boycott dear, so I am under no "individual power" disillusionment.
But all the economic groups combined do and ARE, AZ has caved on lesser-strength boycotts. The law is already being reviewed and a cite for that is due to boycotts. Do you have any idea how much money the state is losing out on every single day due to the boycotts? It takes a nearly sickeningly low level of intelligence to think the boycotts are not working.

It's sickeningly naive to think that a few musicians boycotting Arizona will have any sort of impact at all. People who support the bill will tune out these guys, and they're not going to sway anyone to change sides. Countless studies have shown that having a celebrity attached to a cause actually has a negative effect on a campaign, as people subconsiously dismiss the celebs view as a "celebrity pet cause".

The jury really is still out on how effective this boycotting is. Sure, it will harm tourism revenue to some degree, but most of the states boycotting (such as St. Paul MN) didn't do much business with AZ to begin with. And the real question is, are these tourism losses going to be sustained? AZ is obviously still getting the MLB All-Star Game, so how quickly will people forget this cause and give up the boycott?

I have a feeling they'll reschedule the dates anyway. Hopefully. Yes, I think it's cool that they are standing up against this, but it's the fans that have to look stupid and get a refund to the tickets they fairly paid for, and it's the fans that have to take a hit because of some stupid law. I know you guys may not think I'm not looking at the big picture, but I pay my good money to see these concerts quite often, and it's a hit toward my life style. I know it sounds selfish, or sounds like I'm wrapped up in material things, but it's hard to imagine if you've only been to a concert once or twice, or haven't been to a concert at all. Anyone who fits the above description could say "Oh, I'm proud that the artist is doing that," or "Yes! empowerment" etc etc. It's a different situation for everyone. Going to concerts is one of my favorite things, it brings life to me, and it's an escape to everything I want to escape from. I know it sounds crazy, but everyone has something like that.

In this point and time, I had no idea this immigration law would affect me. Stupid, yes, but did I have any idea? no.

Two concerts that I was planning to go to got fucking cancelled because the performers (Belinda Carlisle of The GoGo's who where one of the headliners at the Phoenix Lilith Fair and Pitbull who was playing in Phoenix) decided to boycott AZ. I know this argument sounds petty, but WTF. I'm missing some of my favorite performers becuase of a damn immigration law I know I sound super ignorant, and I usually never sound like this, but God dammit politicians, you guys really know how to hit me hard.
Well it's good you aren't seeing them. Stupid fucks protesting a law they haven't read and don't understand. All it does is maintain the current national immigration laws.
