    And the award goes to:
    Drum Roll Please............

    Australia!

4th Place in the Olympics with

    Gold Silver Bronze Total
    <table xmlns:fo="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format" class="otenet_results_table_generalwidth" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="1" width="150"> <tbody><tr class="otenet_results_table_tr2"><td align="center">17</td><td align="center">16</td><td align="center">16</td><td align="center">49</td></tr></tbody> </table>
All for a country of 20 million people.

Hypethetically speaking, if we had the population of America, we'd have 255 gold medals and 735 medals in total.

Last time I heard the Aussies were 18 million. You are right though, for such a small country (my city alone has 14 million people) you do really well at sports.

    Ah, you Aussies.

All you do at school is play sport, there's no learning involved.

(I'm just bitter because you beat us at everything. Well done.)

Canada did terribly at these olympics...12. It has bin said that we expect FIRST in the 2010 Olmypics in Whistler (we are pretty good at winter olympics, but I only care if we beat the states in hockey ) But congrats to the Aussies, they are a very athletic country.

One of the new additions is my little cousin. She was born a few weeks ago. A lot of my family lives in Australia so I guess I should support them. GO Thorpedo!

    LOL!

Wow, Euro championships! How the hell can we win the European championship? We aren't even in freaking Europe. So if you're the best in Europe, you are the best in the world? B.S.

You guys are the world champions at basketball, congratulations. Everyone knows basketball is a joke at an international level. The US are the best team in the world by the length of the Pacific Ocean, if they played a semi-strong team, they'd be unbeatable. Of course, we know that doesn't happen.

Basketball is hardly a major sport in this country, of course we are going to suck at it. If you want to know, we are the reigning silver medalists at the last 2 Olympics and World Championships in Women's Basketball. As for Volleyball and Waterpolo, we don't care! I didn't even know we played these sports let alone competed on an international level. There are plenty of sports which aren't popular in Europe but are popular here.

The Olympics is the measuring stick of success, Serbia sucks the big one while Australia punches above it's weight. BUT, if you must know, In the last 10 years, we've won the multiple World Cups in the following TEAM sports:

Rugby Union, Rugby League, Cricket, Men and Women's Hockey, Netball. Ontop of that, we've been world champions in plenty of individual sports, including swimming, athletics, equestrian events, shooting, surfing etc. etc. You name it, we've won it.

What has Serbia won at an international level? I know you guys won the Basketball world championships but it was a one off. I'm not talking about Europe either because we win every sport there is to win in Oceania.

    Australia > Serbia. Fact.

In Oceania? Ohh, that must be hard. Who have you got to beat? New Zeland, and a load of small islands that not many people even know the names of. Europe has about 40 countries in, and at least 5 are competitve ar many sports on a world level.

You obviously didn't get my ironic tone.

How can you compare two countries by using a European tournament as a measuring stick, when one of the countries doesn't even qualify for entry?

Sorry, irony doesn't translate well through text.
