Why would talking about castration be gay? It might the trans-sexual, but not gay. I don't think gay people want to be castrated, but a trans-sexual might.

I wouldn't jump the gun and call him gay. It just sounds like he's curious and thats pretty typical for teens. There is really no way to tell someone's sexuality without them proving otherwise.
