Default Brutal Bong Bashing

Tonight I am going to destroy both my bongs because I need to quit smoking weed, and the tobacco that goes along with my bongs of weed. I know the only way I'll ever stop is to do something stupid like destroying my $100 glass gear bong, because Ill smoke it if its near me.

So overall, I need some tips, I know there are sites out there, but I'm looking for personal experience, of what you did to quit smoking weed, or tobacco, it can be cigarettes to because I have the nicotine addiction, but don't smoke cigarettes, just bongs. Any help would be great, but I'm starting by ridding myself of smoking devices, the only thing I'm leaving is my vaporizer, and you can only use weed, and it's the safest way to get high because it doesn't involve smoke. So any other suggestion would be great, key in I don't wanna quit weed all together, just cut it down to weekend use, and I want to rid my nicotine/tobacco addiction completely.

Dont hang around smokers. If you're not phisicly addicted all you need is a bit of will..if you are..courage.

When I quited I had be binging for easily a month. The first few days I could sleep..and when I did I sweated like hell, I couldnt eatand alway felt nauseous. I was in a rely bad mood all the time and had 0 patience. Its not fun.

Oh dude do NOT destroy a bong kid, Ever. Sell it someone or give it away. Never break one. That's like a cardinal sin.

The more you "big it up" ie, the more you worry about how hard it will be, the harder it will be.

State of mind innit, just think "ah well, gonna quit smoking now, no big deal" and it will be a lot easier for you. Try not to hang around people who will be smoking, and don't destroy the bong, that's silly. Give it away if you really can't deal with it, but if you're going to give in, you'll give in with or without the bongs around.

i dont know how down you'd be, but: running. i had a friend who quit and took up running instead. for the first few weeks every time he'd try to take a run he'd wheeze and cough shit up and get tired so fast, so by the time he was done going around one block he hated cigarettes even more. eventually running got easier and made him feel better. but that technique requires a little bit of masochism since it makes you feel like shit at first.

since you bong rip almost exclusively, the main thing you need to change is your routine since i'm pretty sure you mostly do this at home. change the layout of your room (seriously) because when you sit down in a familiar way, walk the same steps etc etc it will become more and more obvious that you're bong is missing from the equation. a teacher i had threw out her easy chair because it was the main place she sat to smoke after work.

find something legal that gives you a natural high to slowly ween your way off it.
Or make some small but good changes like not smoking in the morning and stuff

I smashed the bongs, and ended up buying a new one not too shortly after. Then I watched some videos on quitting, and training your mind to think it not a big deal, and it kinda helped. I can go a couple days now without getting high, but I still need to smoke at least one bong a day(usually right before I go to bed), but I can still feel my lungs getting better. The idea of having one bong at the end of the day keeps me going to not smoke, though its kinda counteractive in the way it works, becuase I'm only not smoking so I can SMOKE later, but at least its keeping me bong free for 24 hours at a time(exactly 24 hours usually). I just ran out of weed yesterday, and didn't grab today so today is going to be completely bong free, and I feel alright about it. Today I just looked at my bong and didn't even want to hit it. So I think my method worked, because now I kind of see no point in even wanting one bong.

I now know this is completely a nicotine addiction I'm fighting, as I really don't feign getting high, and am pretty happy being sober(I don't even like drinking much), so I hope I eventually kill this addiction, because it's tied with weed, which is osmething I'd rather do on the weekend, then during the work week. At least I don't smoke cigarettes. And at most I will only smoke around 1/5 of a cigarette with my bongs.

I recently quit weed. I didn't destroy my bowl, though. I gave it away. I feel like it's in good hands with the person I gave it to, and I won't be bugged by the convenience of smoking. I also gave away my bud.

Basically you just have to realize that you don't need it. It's just fun, and that's it. Find other things to do that are more productive.

Don't do that, unless the people who you hang out with are only connected to you through marijuana. There's absolutely no need to stop hanging out with fun people just because you've made the decision not to smoke.

Evan, you misread Luke's post. (I hope)

If you didn't misread his post; then I disagree with you. If you hang around people that are smoking marijuana, and you're trying to quit- then it will be more difficult.

Clearly hanging out with people who are regularly using a drug you want to quit makes it somewhat more difficult; on the other hand, Kevin, Evan (lolz, get names that rhyme less!) has a point in that unless friends are really primarily drug-related, it could be a socially detrimental thing to stop hanging out with everyone who's ever smoked weed with the OP. Like, most of my friends occasionally smoke weed. If I wanted to quit, not hanging out with everyone who smokes would be brutal and destroy my social life. Not at all worth it.

One must find a happy medium.

Oh, I agree completely with Evan's point. But he was just contradicting Luke's post, and by the way his point was worded- it appeared he had misinterpreted Luke's post.

It might be more difficult. I'm only saying that it's not a good reason to cut off ties with friends at all. I'm going through the same thing. You think I don't want to get high? No, I do. But I still hang out with my friends who smoke and trip and do all that type of stuff. It would be a stupid thing to stop hanging out with them just because it would make quitting easier.

I mean if you are hanging out with them while they are smoking marijuana.

Yay for a horrible breakdown in communications on my part.

I understood what you meant. I still don't think that you should avoid them when they're smoking. Just make it clear that you don't want to smoke, and it won't be a problem. I'm trying to quit, and I still hang out when my friends smoke. It's not a big deal, and it maintains a social dynamic. It doesn't introduce a situation where you seem evasive towards some aspect of your friends. You don't have to smoke just because others are smoking . . .
