Junks help!

Well, if this is not the right board to post this please feel free to move or delete this. But I'm really desperate right now. I love collecting retro stuff or basically any useful tech junk. Well, I bought this JVC Lolux camera. It's one of those camcorders from the 80's where you still need to have this big box, almost as big as a VCR, with you to record. It's the HR-C3 Compact Video Casset Recorder.The camera is working but whenever I try to record something, the REC light will stay for about 3 seconds and it will eventually stop. If anyone can help, I will really appreciate it, or if you know a site that could help me.

I'm just taking a guess here, but when the 'record' button stops so quickly, wouldn't that mean it's out of space to record anything? Check the tape, or whatever the hell that thing requires, and try again. If that doesn't work, I don't know what else to tell you, bro.

Recording head might be stuffed. If you're feeling 1337 you could crack it open and see if there's anything obviously broken inside. Can you hear it do anything, like the heads realign or the drum spin when you hit record?
