First of all, avoid anyone that smokes. Doing so will make it easier for you to quit. Also, throw out ALL your cigarettes, and maybe your lighters. You can try patches, but you'll need support from friends and family, as well as maybe your guidance counselor. If you can convince the person who gets you the cigarettes, to stop buying you them, then do so. Addictions are hard to shake. If your friends try to pressure you to continue, cause it's "cool", then walk away.

There are three methods of quitting nicotine:
1) Cold-Turkey 2) Nicotine Replacement Therapy 3) Bupropion Different methods work better for some than others, but statistically... the options I listed are in order of success (3 being highest). ~Cold turkey rarely works as a method of killing the nicotine addiction, and a great majority find themselves lighting up again before they even really started to quit. ~Nicotine replacement involves the uses of nicotine patches and/or gum to help taper oneself off of nicotine. Success rates are around 50%. ~Bupropion (trade name: Wellbutrin) is a psychiatric medication that works as an antidepressant as well as a very effective quitting agent for nicotine. Success rates are from 60-80%. Cold turkey, albeit the least costly, is really.. not an option. So it depends on what you're willing to try, and if you have good health insurance; if so, I would recommend talking to your GP about bupropion, if not go, with nicotine replacement. Best of luck to you!
