Default Medical Question that I think applies

Hey,
I have recently gained some weight and I know that happens in puberty. But, I have backs pains because of it... I went to the doctor and my weight is about spot on. Does anyone know what is with back pain? I really am not sure if this is connected to puberty, but I assume so because I am 16.

Its most likely not related to puberty, now that you have gained weight yes, more weight on the front more strain on your back, plain and simple, u loose the weight and no more back pain then u had before u gained the weight

Well exuse me for asking this but are you over weight?
That would explain back pains as your back is not use to the extra weight. Even if your not over weight your back may not be strong enough for that extra weight.

"Spot on" meaning in normal range?

Back pain is a tough call. It's a very generalized symptom description, with a huge range of environmental causes that need to be eliminated before anything seriously medical can be considered. Most of the time, it's just normal strain.

Here are some questions that would help me a lot:
  1. Can you think of any potential sources of strain (athletics, lifting, sleep position, slouching, prolong unusual/poor posture)?
  2. Where is the pain located?
  3. How would you describe the pain? Sharp or a dull ache? Does it radiate or "shoot" at all?
  4. What makes the pain worse, or better, whether it be movement, posture, time of the day, or anything?
I will warn in advance that back pain is hard to diagnose even if you have physical access to a patient, and even harder online. But, at minimum, it can at least give me an idea of whom to refer you to.

Thanks
Alcon

I agree with Alcon. If it's bothersome, try taking an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen or Naproxen (take them after food) as directed for a day or two. Usually back pain goes away on its own, but if it doesn't, you can always get it evaluated by a doctor.

Have you been lifting weights recently?
Carrying a heavy back pack?
When did the pain started occuring?
What kind of pain is it? Sharp? Dull?
Have you done anything to relieve it? I suggest before taking OTC drugs please apply warm towel or hot packs prior to taking medications.

It could be alot of things that can cause that pain.
