My interest in physics began with...
I enjoy studying physics because... Go straight in there with why you like physics, don't waste time beating around the bush. http://www.ucas.com/students/applyin...onalstatement/ ^ The ucas site has some good advice on it too. |

Show that you're passionate about physics. Tell them why you like it and how interested you are in the subject. Show them that you've read around the subject and that you have a genuine love of physics. The statement should be mostly centred on the physics with the rest being about your free time and hobbies etc.

Do not start with the same old 'i want to study physic because' line, just don't they read it 1000s of times over and over again. Rule of thumb is tutors will read your first paragraph and last, make them the best. Start of with something out of the blue. Bang, and the inverse was created, as was my passion for phsyics at XYZ because of ABC etc. That line is horrendous, but so much better than starting like every tom dick and harry does.

Don't stress. It's grades that count. I applied to physics with a pityful personal statement (just under 1000 characters if I remember correctly) and I got in.
![]() I'm in UCAS too by the way. |

I am at Queens University Belfast (a very good university) and I got three As.
The reason my personal statement was so small was that I did no extracirricular activites worth talking about and had minimal work experience. But it's all about bluffing. For example I debated once, in 4th year, and lost. But I talked about how I was on the debating team and all the research and presentation skills this taught me e.t.c By the way don't apply to physics unless you realy want to do it. I'm in my first year now and it's heavy going. |

Well you have 4 A levels, I only had 3. It depends on your university what you need. Queens (mine) goes on specifics, i.e they want you to have AB in Maths and Physics and B in something else, they don't care about UCAS points. So geting AAAC with the C in Maths or Physics is no use. But some unis will let you in with X points as long as you take Maths and Physics among your subjects.
