Default Mosquitoes.

Is there a such thing as like... a super mosquito?

I recently moved into a new house, and ever since I and my family have all been reacting worse to mosquito bites. The bite immediately swells and turns red, and many times you can see lines where the enzymes flowed through the blood. Also, the bites burn rather than itch.
The mosquitoes themselves seem different too. They are very small (only a few millimeters long) and when you get close enough they are completely black with little white stripes on the legs. They seem to be smarter, too, and tend to only bite areas which will bend, bunch up, etc. (such as a finger), and therefore become more irritated than somewhere such as the middle of the arm which wouldn't see much disturbance to the skin.

Can anybody give me an explanation as to why this might be? Could it be that it is a newly evolved or undiscovered species, or might there be other biochemical/psychological forces at work seeing as this is a new house?

Based on your description, you might have what seemed to be a yellow fever mosquito and I believe they could be quite dangerous. If I were you, I would start applying mosquito repelant lotion and call insect exterminators. If you want some home made solution to send them away, try burning orange peels and let the smoke send them away.

That's good advice. Whatever it is, preventing bites is no doubt the best thing to do. It seems to me like mosquitoes have become less of a problem in my area in recent years, but I'm gonna try burning orange peels to see if that works.

About the black and white legs, I'm sure I've seen mosquitoes like those before. They're probably not super mosquitoes if they don't have something really dangerous to spread, their bites just have a different effect than other types of mosquitoes.

I think we found out what they are. I think they are Asian Tiger Mosquitoes.
