Coming out of the shell....

Hey I'm a 17 year old teen & basically I'm this loner who anyone won't know whether I exist or not...Even in school half of the grade doesn't know my name and almost everybody think of me as this nice, quiet, juvenile kid and basically doesn't care much about me. Some guys in my grade doesn't even know my name. According to everyone else, the cool & well known kids are the ones who party, drink and go out with hot girls & those who are well known by everyone. I don't want to be the most popular kid but I want everyone to know that I exist...So how do the cool, well known guys in US, Canada, UK etc. behave and act. Please help

just try and start conversations with them if they are sitting next to you in class or something. Being more outgoing and talking more will most likely get you friends

Also, do not think you need to drink alchohol and smoke and do drugs to be cool. That is NOT cool and can lead to substance abuse. It's nasty stuff really.

My advice: Join a club or extra-curricular activity at your school. You can make new friends easy that way.

talking to people is the easiest way. Branching out by joining clubs, or even just sitting with a group of people at lunch time can make a difference.

The best thing to do and what I did because I was like you is to go join a club of some sort or join a sport like basketball or soccer, you meet loads of new people that aren't idiots like the ones in schools

i would start interacting with maybe a few guys that may like you in that group

Basically you need to be pro-active and involved in community.

I find once you make the first friendship asking the said friend to introduce you to other people really helps.

Easiest conversation starter points would be to talk about your surroundings and what's going on, be that the class or the weather, even a noise and going from there.

Also noticing and remembering things about people helps to spark or continue conversations.

Genuine compliments are pretty good too.

Try to make friends, you can make friends in two months by getting interested in them rather than making friends in two years by letting them to get interested in you. Join some group, talk about common interests that will help you.

Don't drink and all that to be popular. It's not worth it. Be yourself, join some clubs. My school has like 150+ clubs, every kid has a club to fit into. If that doesn't work, look for kids wearing clothing of bands you like or somethig similar. Don't try to fit the stereotype. Those kids also get comfy on the cop cars half stoned, drunk, or high. Be yourself.

make a few wisecracks in class. I wasnt very noticed in middle school, but freshman year I started being more loose and making more jokes and now everyone thinks im hilarious. For example when the teacher left the room today for a minute i shut the door so it locked her out. Obviously, you dont have to do stuff that would get you in trouble, but just a few comments heard by a few people can spark a conversation
