I don't know if this forum allows for this, so.. mods if you feel it's appropriate, move this baby away. But in the guidelines, posted by Chris, there is mention of "no general drug discussion".... now I don't know if that applies to drug culture as well. The purpose of this thread is to discuss movies based on drugs, drug use, and drug related crimes/deaths, and what you thought about them, and if you felt there was merit to the portrayal of the substance, its effects, and its consequences.
As for mine, I have a couple of favorites: 1) Amphetamines/Heroin~ Requiem for a Dream This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The plot is so intense, that you become immersed in it. Watching this actually made me decide to quit speed and cut back on virtually all of my drug abuse. I'd say it's pretty spot on, and accurately portrayed. 2) LSD~ SLC Punk This movie is so incredibly kickass, you have to see it for yourself! I felt it was pretty realistic. 3) MDA/Cocaine/Cannabis/Barbiturates/and more~ Studio 54 While the greater plot focuses on an individual's "rise to success", and the story of the true ending of Studio 54, drug use is rampant. I'd say a good 1/4 of this movie is just about trading, selling MDA, taking bumps, or popping barbiturates "to calm down". ![]() 4) Ecstasy~ Rolling This move is insane!!! 5) Heroin~ Trainspotting

This seems like it would fit more in the Radio, TV, and Cinema Forum, but I've got to say Trainspotting is an amazing movie. Requiem for a Dream seemed unrealistic at times, but was well made and showed what could happen if you were severely addicted to anything.

Requiem for a Dream
And I need to watch Rolling as well. Also, Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo is also a funny film. Oh yeah, like the above poster said, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as well.

"I can't get off this chair or I'll drown, wanna know why, Bob? 'Cause I can't swim." I love that movie. But, it's really hard to describe an acid trip in film.

Requiem for a Dream & Trainspotting are two of the best, IMHO. Excellent stories & great acting.

When it comes to gangster movies involving snow, I'd say Good Fellas is the best!

Blow.
I'm not a fan of the whole pot movies they are just stupid. American Gangster was good but I wouldn't consider it a "drug movie". More about Frank Lucas. Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas terrified me, haha.
