Why is there no introduction zone?
This is quite a community forum and I was just wondering why there isn't any introduction area?
Its quite common in other forums? Anyone share my thoughts?

Because we have a lot of new members join all the time every day and it would just get spammy. Plus members are welcome to introduce themselves in the Countdown forum if they like.

Many, many new members join daily, and there really isn't a need for one, if you stay around and make solid posts, then you will get known.
It also would be hard to moderate.

 The Communities actually works well for this, though most new people have no idea.
