I started to become attracted to a girl at my school at the start of the school year. I've known her for about five years, and in that time period, we've had a few classes together (including 1 class this year and 2 classes last year). Additionally, we're both in Marching Band together. In the classes that I have/had with her, we sit next to each other and usually talk. She always seems to enjoy talking/joking with me during class.
Now, at the same time, this girl has started to become attracted to one of my friends. At times, she (jokingly, I guess) tells me that I'm her "future husband" and that she wants to marry me, and we've hugged a few times. That said, this is still shocking to me. Last Friday, I found out that she is going to the Homecoming Dance with him. To me, and I think my friends will agree, in the past few days, their relationship is starting to become "official" (for lack of a better term). Since then, I've noticed that the interaction between me and her is still more or less the same as it was before this happened. In fact, she has made one of the "future husband" comments since last Friday, and she's even given me a hug. The one big change is that she's been getting closer to him. He also seems to have no problems with this, and even snapped back at one of my friends who made a snarky comment about their relationship. This, and some of his other recent actions makes it obvious to me that the feelings between them are mutual. But, they seem to have a very low-key relationship. Here's an example from today: They both ate lunch at the table that I usually sit at (with my friends). They did not sit next to each other and they did not walk back to their lockers together. I've never seen them hug either. They usually spend their time together just talking with each other. And that's it. No hugs, and nothing else. It would probably be hard for someone other than me or my friends to even notice that they are together. This makes me question the strength of their relationship. But, as I've said, the feelings between them are definitely mutual. I'm wondering if they are just becoming very close friends or if something is really happening. I've noticed that on his Facebook page, he has not changed his relationship status from "single," and he is an active user of Facebook. It seems that he would actually change it since he actively uses Facebook. (I don't know; just another point to consider...) I'm really just not sure what to think. She has always seemed to enjoy my company, but now she's interested in my friend. Any thoughts or advice? |

Let her be her. At the end of the day, you really won't want to get into a relationship with someone who genuinely does not love you. If she wants to be your bffff (or whatever the l33t speak is for that these days...), let HER be the one to make the first move. Then you can know that her liking of you is truly real.
And just for your sake, try not to ever use facebook as a seriously tool by which to judge other's feelings/thoughts/etc.. The internet is just not the place to try and get a better understanding of other people.
