Grey would definitely look different. I've seen a few of your photos, and I think a darker shade of gray would look good on you.

Don't dye your hair red unless you're ready for the constant upkeep and maintenance it requires. You may have to redye often, since it doesn't last long at all and fades quickly.
I dye my hair red with henna and that's permanent, although it doesn't turn my hair red, it gives it a red gloss. In the light it's red but indoors it usually looks brown.
