GovTeen and pedophelia

Well, yea, I'm rather new and not very active and all that. I am simply curious and didn't know where to put this, so I put it here, I hope it's a good place.

Cause I was wondering what GovTeen actually does to prevent any pervs or pedophiles getting on GovTeen, I might not see everything you do against it. But everyday I am stunned more by the amount of (possible) pedophelia inhere. A new member that explains how unexperienced he is with all things concerning puberty got 207 views of his profile in two days. My profile has only been looked at 23 times in 1,5 months. That's probably because I refuse to post in p101, but it's still kinda creepy.

Ofcourse you can never prevent older people to get in on the internet, but this site provides the perfect Pedo Tools. Just take a look at all the chatting going on at everybody's profile. Half of it is about e-mailadresses the other half is about how cute someone is. A lot of members here only chat and ask for e-mailadresses.

What can that be? It is at least very sexual. Do we have any reason to assume he is not an adult? The only post he made was in a 'wanking survey'. Would a 13 year old boy behave like that, or even an 18 year old boy? I doubt it.

Not really. People just tend to view profiles out of curiosity. It happens with most people.

The Admins do searches of Private Messages, so a lot of people who register for the wrong reasons get banned sooner or later if they looking for people to cam with or trade pics etc.

That's my point; I just compare my 23 times with 207 times an obvious young boy gets in two days. The creepy part was about the 207 times, not about the 23 times my profile had been showed, because I do know 23 times isn't much.

But I didn't know PM could be checked, so I guess my question is answered.

Yes they can be. But they dont like go around and spend their time checking pms all day.

I understand I should contact an administrator, what I just don't get is that this site provides so many tools for any pedophile to harrass a kid.

GovTeen has:
Chat programmes
A lot of members
Photo's
Penis sizes in the signature
A puberty section
Masturbation clubs
Naive 13 year old kids

It's just a very scary combination.

It's no different then myspace or facebook. Except this site actually helps teens.

Exactly. The administration and staff take member security very seriously. If a pedophile is found on the site, his behavior is reported to the appropriate authorities for legal action to take place. The site does a lot of behind the scenes activity to help protect the members. But like any site with the amount of uses as Gov has it is not an easy task. Like others said, the best thing to do is contact an administrator regarding your concern.

Well, the difference is that GovTeen tries to be a safe place for teenagers too. At facebook you know you can meet a lot of different people. But inhere, most of the members only expect teenagers, while it is extremely likely there are quite a lot of pervs. So you create a semi-safe environment, which is actually more dangerous than something like Facebook. But meh, I will stop, cause I think I made my point and I don't want to be some kind of troll.

I am all for thebbanning of asking for chat, penis size in sigs, etc, and I see what you mean.
If you find something questionable, then you should report it.

Don't worry about feeling like a troll, you're far from it. Here, especially in P101, we go as far as we can to prevent this kind of behaviour. Rest assured that we will do everything in our power to track down people violating our rules, and punish them accordingly. Obviously, because of the nature of the P101, there will be people out there, but believe us when we say that we do our very best to catch them. We want this to be an environment which is as safe as it can possibly be on the internet.

I know it's been mentioned, but a lot of people don't, please report anything suspicious to a moderator, global mod, or admin. We will look into it, and I promise that we'll do our very best to keep it as safe as possible.

We understand your worries. We try our best to get rid of people who are here for the wrong reasons, and we do get rid of those people everyday, but each day they find some way to work around us, so we have to find new ways to fight them. It's not easy. We monitor as much as humanly possible to make sure nothing slips through the cracks. Also, we'd like to create a pedo/predator-free environment, but in order to do so, we'd have to restrict so much on this site, that there'd be little to nothing left. That's not to say that we don't restrict anything, because we restrict a lot for the safety and well-being of the site and the members, but things like our puberty section are the base of our site. We're here to help people.
