Epic Fail.
For the first time in about 2 weeks, I actually hung out with one of my friends. We were in my car and talking about her ex-boyfriend. She says that she hopes that she hopes he rots in hell, to which I made the obvious 'your mom' joke.
"Your mom is rotting in hell." Complete silence. It took me a full 30 seconds to remember that her alcoholic mother had killed herself 6 years ago.

She laughed it off after I realized just exactly what I'd said, because I yelled "FUCK" as soon as I remembered.
But I think it really upset her. She seemed okay though. I think she knew it wasn't intentional.

Damn, that is an epic fail, but that wasn't even an obvious your mom joke, that was a mean joke regardless if her mom had died or not. Either way, epic fail indeed.
