Default What a bad Situation

So, I am not going to shout or anything, I'm a little more disturbed by he whole thing.

I'm a lifeguard. I was guarding an area of 4ft 6 in today. It is close to an area with a gradula, but large drop off from about 2.5 ft.

There was this little girl by the edge of the pool, sorta far out. She was about seven or eight. Her dad was standing there at the side of the pool, just staring at her. I figured everything had to be alright, seeing as there was no sound or anything coming from wither of them, so I did a quick scan of the two and turned back around to ask my supervisor a quesion.

Thats when I got the weird feeling that something wasn't rigjt. Neither the dad or the daughter had madea noise. I turned around, me and my supervisor both saw it at the same time.

She had wandered out to far. Her tube that she was using had slipped under her feet, and she was in a horizontal position, face up. But water was rushing over he face.

I quietly slid in, and grabber her under the arm pitts, and pulled her to the shallow water. I got her to respond eventually, and I got her to stand up. I asked her a few questions, made sure she was okay and everything was fine.

Andhtere is my frustration. Just a happy little calm scene. Not a word from her father. WHAT THE HELL WAS HE DOING??? He just stood there like a big idiot. The only word he said the whol time was "oh, she's okay"

Why are people so stupid. If I wouldn't have gotten that weird feeling, she would've died right in front of his face.

EDIT: sorry for spelling mistakes, I'm not fixing them right now though

I work at a YMCA camp, and the possibility of such a thing happening is always on my mind. The pool is the most dangerous place...I'm so glad you acted on your instincts and saved a life. No matter the reasoning for his beaviour - shock, ignorance, confusion...you're the one who made the difference. Be proud of that.
