i found out yesterday that my mom is gonna marry her long time boyfriend, and al i can do is cry. i never really got over the loss of my dad (even though he never loved me) and tom (her b/f) is nice but doesnt like me, we rarely see eye-to-eye, he is mean to my cat (who is like prob the most important thing in my life becuse he is one of my BEST friends), he just doesnt fit in with us, and we rarely speak though my mom is always trying to try and get us to.. i was just getting used to my family being this certain way. and now he is gonna change it all. i wanna stop the wedding because i dont approve but my mom says that she loves him and wont break off the wedding. i love my mom and want her to be happy but if she marries tom i just think she might be unhappy. they have been dating for like 3 years. i dont think i'll be able to live with him. i was just starting to turn my life around and now this is gonna change everything i was just beginning to get used to.

i dont know what to do and am beginning to get discouraged...someone please help me in any way possible. wether its advise or anything.

Thats one HUGE problem. Just ignore the bastard that will drive him crazy. Just pretend he isn't there and ask your mum everything like he doesn't exist. If that doesn't work then just be firm and insist things go YOUR WAY.

This kind of stuff works for me. I get my way pretty much.

If you have a problem with who you could end up living with you need to speak with your mother about this. He is going to be just as much a part of your life (just in a different way) as your mother's. Maybe it won't stop the marriage, but it can get a few things straightened out.

This guy Tom doesn't sound like much of a winner.
Maybe you could try sitting down with your mother (without Tom) and just talking about specific things he does and why you'd like him to change.
If you start out saying he's a total a--hole and you want to stop the wedding your mother will probably dig in her heels and you won't get much out of the conversation. I dunno, maybe you want him to have nothing to do with the cat, that you want your mom to agree that you will be polite to him (like an uncle) but he is not to tell you what to do or not to do or discipline you in any way, etc. I think saying you want your mother to be happy and that you understand that she likes him will gain you some points, but ask her to understand how it hurts that your father died and Tom's presence only reminds you of it. Maybe that will help. All I can add is, their marriage might or might not last, but in a few years you'll grow up and be able to move out (yeay, wooo hoo!!) and try to make the time bearable by being polite to each other.

Usually, the only way a human can truly grasp a concept is by themself.
