Sub-Chapter I: Two Days At The Arizona Fall Frenzy
Day II:
*Note: Due to the quantity of artists that played on both nights I attended, I will be giving each artist their respective post, to not make topic posts long in length, and relatively enabling.
Date: 9/19/09
Concert: Authority Zero, Asher Roth, Anberlin, Slightly Stoopid, Fall Out Boy, Blink-182.
Location and Venue: Tempe Beach Park, Tempe, Arizona
Short Description: The second day of the Fall Frenzy was rather shady compared to the cougar-ridden happy hour I experienced the first day. The second day was filled with teenyboppers, scene kids, college students, and an endless bunch of young adults coming there to get drunk. The night was overall a party, but it did have it's down ends. I will of course elaborate later. Call me a old geezer, but some of these things made myself question my personal well-being.
The Environment: Going to the second day was similar to going to an entirely different location. Though I got there fairly early, people where already lined around the corner. Of course I managed to sneak in about half way into a gap where people seemed to seperate. Correction: just to add, it wasn't even a line, more like a frenzy. Yes, bad pun, eh?
When I got in, I still got a spot near the front, but more off to the side, compared to being front and center the night prior. Once again, people really weren't rushing to the rails, but it was definitely a larger turnout in the beginning then the last. The wait for the opening act wasn't that long, compared to the other night which where presenting techniqual difficulties, but there was definitely anticipation none-the-less. By the time Authority Zero made the stage, nearly almost half of the green was filled. This crowd's priority was definitely geared on getting a decent spot.
Entry I: Authority Zero
Supporting Album: 12:34
The Show: The first act to come on, Authority Zero, came on with enthusiastic energy. Though there where indeed fans in the area, they where rather humble, and understood most where there to see Blink-182, not so much their band. Though their rock wasn't exactly my cup of tea, I did enjoy their performances. They where filled with energy, and not only their front man was interacting with the crowd, their bass and guitar player where also involved. Aside from the stationary drum player, none of the members of Authority Zero dared to sit still and twiddle their thumbs.
They seemed a bit popular with the crowd, you could hear quite a few fans shouting requests, and they did indeed take them. They also did happen to display how powerful a band or artist can be when they have are on a stage with a microphone. With those two tools, it is utmost possible to get the crowd do anything at their whim. Such as the indicent when the front man actually ordered the crowd to run in circles. During that pirahna feeding session, I was thrilled that I happened to be in the front near the rails, far away from the amid chaos.
Other than that, even though, again, their music isn't my cup of tea, it was very entertaining, they where a very sarcastic band. The whole crowd-running-in-circles thing did happen to make me question the Security's attentiveness.
