    Default Guinea Pig ???

What is it called, when you have a certain illness or condition, and you can call the local University and?

speak to whatever department you need, and you explain your condition, and see if they would like to basically turn you into a guinea pig and figure out what is wrong ?

In a nut shell, I had an ACL reconstrucition 3 1/2 yrs ago. I have been having very severe stomach problems since. Many tests I have taken such as testing for chrohns, IBS, and anything related is negative. I am completely healthy according to the tests, but i AM NOT !!!

So what is it called when I basically want to become a guinea pig so they can study what is wrong with me, and help me at the same time.

Do not say guinea pig, i need a better term for it. Thanks in advance.

From the surgery they put a cadaver acl and titanium hook in my knee. I KNOW THATS THE PROBLEM.

Test subject, case study, study participant, etc. Generally, though, the university seeks people it wants for a study, not the other way around. Exceptions would mainly be people with a very unique problem, and thus not something the university would think of on its own. It never hurts to contact a university and see if they'll help you out, but unfortunately, I don't think the odds of them essentially providing you free medical care are very high.

Why are you so sure that is the probem? HAve you done research on these surgeeries, or on the effects of this titanium hook?

Not to insalt anypne's intelligence but...do you have a healthy diet? Or have you ever been checked for an ulsar?

Cann you explain the pain? Does it affect digestion?

I know this isn't the reply you're looking for, but I am genuinely curious about why you think this surgery is the source of your problem.

The pain is sever stomach cramps, and diarrhea, and gas. But all of them are uncontrollable. I do not have a healthy diet, and even when I tried that, I was still having problems. So even though certain foods make it worse, food is not the problem.

I have had any and every test done you can think of, they all are negative.

I have done research, and read that most doctors will say its not possible to have a problem with titanium hooks, but I have read people saying that they did have problems with them, and when they had them removed there problem went away.

unfortunately I never heard of them causing the problems I am having. but there is no other logical choice. Everything points back to my surgery.

What you're thinking of doesn't exist. There are clinical trials, but those are mainly restricted to testing currently untested medications on patients with a known illness that the untested medication supposedly can help. Universities don't have clinical diagnostic departments for medical mysteries. What you want to do is see a specialist, more specifically a gastroenterologist. They should be able to come to a diagnosis and treatment for your condition. If you've done that already, find another specialist and perhaps they'll be able to assist you. But at this point, a gastroenterologist is your best bet.

I have already seen a Gastroenterologist. I know I need to see a surgeon and get this thing from my knee removed.

Go see another one. Second opinions are always good in cases such as these. If you strongly believe that the issue was caused by the surgery, how about consulting the surgeon that performed it?

Well unfortunately do not have health insurance, and the surgeon is 3000 miles away from where I live now.

Could you call the surgeon? I'm sure that if you explain your situation to the hospital they could find some time for you to speak to the surgeon over the phone for a few minutes to see if he can provide an answer for your discomfort.
