    Exclamation Need to lose weight

    I AM GETTING SICK OF THIS CRAAAAP. EVERY DAY I GO TO SCHOOL, AND EVERY DAY ITS "oh hi calum, lose weight." "why you fat calum" they mean it as a joke but i swear to god. Ok, i need some overnight weight loss tips, i dont care if it wrecks my body, i NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT NOW. and if you cant get me any overnight systems, give me long term. ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    If you drink Cokes or sweet tea or anything like that, substitute water for it. Use flavoring if you need to. I've lost 17 pounds recently just by doing this and am now at my ideal weight for my age and height. Other than that, exercise as much as possible, man.

    First of all, it says more of the other people than it does of you that they're making fun of your weight. That just means they're being mean; they shouldn't be treating you like that.

    Of course, losing weight is a legitimate health concern, and while people should stop teasing you on their own, losing weight will probably help out.

    There is no safe magical overnight way to lose weight. The most effective way to lose weight and to keep it off is through healthy eating and exercise. If you tell me everything you eat and drink in a typical day (today, for example)--and you include everything from the meals to condiments to every snack, I can give you advice on how to improve that. Generally, you'll want to eat lots of fruits and vegetables and whole grain foods, lean proteins, but not very much red meat, caloric beverages (sweet tea, soft drinks, etc), fast foods, desserts, candy, chips, anything made with a lot of oil or butter, anything without a lot of nutritional value, etc. Moderation is key, so it's okay to have some unhealthy foods; just eat them less often and/or eat smaller poritions. Fortunately, there are a lot of healthy foods that taste good, and a trip to the grocery store to experiment with new fruits and vegetables may help you eat healthier. It also helps to explore a variety of ways of preparing them, ranging from eating raw fruits and veggies to roasted to stir fried to grilled to baked.

    Exercise is also important. Try to exercise as many days per week as possible. If you miss a day, just pick up the next day and continue exercising; it's okay if you miss an occasional day, but get at least some exercise 5-7 days per week. You can try walking, running, biking, swimming, playing a team sport, or using aerobic workout equipment at a gym. If you exercise with a friend or family member, it's oftentimes more fun, but it can also be fun to exercise on your own and enjoy fresh air outside. It may help to keep a log of your exercise or to check in with a friend or family member everyday for support and encouragement.

    Good luck with your weight loss, and let me know if you have any questions. A doctor may also be able to help you, and I'd recommend talking to a doctor if your changes include anything more than simply making healthier lifestyle choices.

    I've been thinking of trying to shed some pounds lately myself. I stopped drinking soda cold turkey (used to go thru a 12 pack in like 2-3 days) 2 weeks ago and now all I drink is water and milk. I actually didnt find it that hard tbh, b/c there toward the end I only enjoyed soda while I ate - it just didnt seem to taste as good if I drank it without food...

    Anyway, I've been trying to eat smaller portions and just eat more meals (cuz I heard a good way to boost your metabolism is to eat small meals like every 4 hours or so), I even bought some Special K cereal lol, and for not previously being a big cereal fan, I actually like it a lot.

    Idk if Ive lost any weight yet b/c the scale I have at home has been broken for like a year, so Idk what I started at or what I'm at now lol. I havent really noticed a difference when looking in the mirror with my clothes off, but then as I said I've been taking baby steps and it's only been like 2 weeks

    If u have a will u can loose your weight. Some one has given u wrong impression about jogging. The jogging is good but not that good as quick walking in early morning i.e. just before sun rise. U should walk at least 3 kms in open in any park near your house. One can not jog inside a house or standing on your leg. If u do not have a park near by than go on the main street in early morning when people and traffic is not there. On return take a cup of black coffee without sugar, start reducing the food what ever you are eating reduce it to first to 2/3 then to 1/2, no fast food, no fiber food.

    Josh did a fantastic job covering the physical aspects of loosing weight healthily. But I'd like to attack it from a psychiatric point of view, I have one question: are you addicted to food (do you crave food when emotional)?

    If so, I'd suggest seeing a psych for antidepressant therapy, many of which work as anoretics themselves. This is of course, in conjunction with eating healthier, in proportion, and exercise.

    Someone said walking is better than jogging? I need help, in 2 days I am gonna jog for 30 mins everyday in 3 weeks (hopefully) and i'll do abs work outs and lift weights, stop drinking coke and eating cookies and stuff like that, how much will my body change in 3 weeks do you guys think? Im pretty chubby

    I don't know. 3 weeks is enough to have an impact, but you're not going to be magically thin in such a short period of time. Also, you may want to consider easing your way into your new lifestyle. If starting lots of exercise and going cold turkey with junk food works for you, great, but you may also want to consider starting with a bit of exercise and cutting back on the Coke, then cutting out cookies, then cutting out all other junk food, etc. or whatever works. But again, if it works, go for it. Good luck with your routine.

    Well whatever you do, get help from someone.

    Trust me, normal people don't talk like that, and I said the same thing.
    I've had an eating disorder for 3 years, which thank god has been under control for about a year now.

    Exercise, don't drink pop, DROWN yourself with water, and do not start getting into habits like purging.

    I lost 65 pounds. It took me around 6 months, which seems like a long time but it was well worth it. Lost roughly 30% of my body weight and am a hell of a lot happier now than I was. I used to be on the computer a lot and would just keep eating shit. I cut out almost all the junk (Biscuits, Chips/Crisps, Coke, Sweets) and I only spoiled myself majorly one day a week, which was Pizza for dinner on a Friday. Apart from that I just kept to my usual routine. I also started going to gym. I started out with 2 days a week, and by the time I was at my ideal weight I was doing 5 to 6 gym sessions a week. Generally 2 weight sessions (not ideal, but hey) and 3 to 4 cardio sessions.

    Fitness really is a lifestyle, it is something you need to keep at for a long period of time and it is not something you can do on and off, it simply doesn't work that way. Consistency is the key.

    The obvious thing to do is eat less/better, and be more active. But the frustrating thing is that to lose fat-weight it takes TIME. If you lose weight too fast, ur just losing water weight, which:

    A) will only return, and
    B) can cause other problems if you're dehydrated (low blood pressure, kidney problems...etc).

    So you hafta stick to your diet and exercise even when you aren't seeing results. Maybe if you find a "buddy" who's going through the same experience u will be able to motivate each other!

    I’m 5 ft. flat, 133lbs, 20 years old. I’m not way overweight, but I do have more chub than I did a couple years ago. For me.. it wasn’t freshman 15, it was freshman 25! I am not very athletic and I never take the time to workout. I don’t eat very healthy either. I really want to get motivated to get into a healthier lifestyle. I’m afraid that if I continue at this rate I’ll keep gaining weight. I avoid going on dates with guys because I am embarrased to tell them I have stretch marks and that I’m very self conscious. I don’t like going to the gym because I hate when people look at me working out. Like I don’t know what I’m doing and I just feel like an idiot. How do I avoid cravings??
