    Default why??

.... is it hard and almost hurts to pee when you really have to go?!?! like, say you watch a 3 hour movie but half way in you have to go... so you dont want to get up during the movie in the theater so you hold it until the end.... and your bladder is like beyond full and you really have to go and you finally get to that urinal... and you barely can go?!?! I don't get this.... like you would think when you "let it go" it would just flood out... but then it doesnt go.... haha has anyone else had this experience...? Does anyone know why this is? I have only had a few experiences like this but I never knew why it was so hard to start going.... it didnt make sense to me and nobody ever told me why this happens... lol

So i was just curious! haha thanks

Wasnt sure where to post this... sorry if its in the wrong spot... i usually ask puberty related questions so i just put this here.... and in the boys forum because idk if this happens with girls... anyways my point was;feel free to move thread at will if it is in the wrong spot. sorry if it is! Thanks

There is a sphincter (valve) that keeps your urine in your bladder, and opens so that you can pee. When you hold it closed tightly for a long time (your movie example is a good one) the muscles that hold the valve closed are reluctant to let go, because you have kept it constricted for so long. After it finally does let go, you can still have spasms in the muscles that control the valve. That constriction, release & spasms can cause pain.

Think about it this way. If you bend your arm at the elbow & tighten your bicep for 10 - 15 minutes, that muscle is going to resist releasing, and, chemically, take a while to recover- so it hurts!

I hope this makes sense to you.
