    Default Depression

Okay... so I really don't know whether or not to put this in the LQTM section or the puberty section. All my life I have had spurts of depression, but this year in general has been a dark one. Is this normal for boys in puberty or is it normal for gays?

I'm sorry, this could go in two different sections depending on the answer... but this section seems to be more prompt and educational that the LQTM section.

Depression is more common among gay teens than among straight teens, as life is just that much more difficult.

It may not just be your orientation that makes you "depressed" as you put it. Is there anything else going on?

Sounds rough. But this is the lot you've been dealt. Make the most of your situation. Don't let yourself fall into the trap of thinking you're a victim. Over come. Become a better person by living through this.

Perhaps you should see a therapist, if only to have someone to vent to and provide constructive input. There is a definite limit on the amount of support an internet forum provides, but if you'd like I'm available to try and help out, or just to talk to.

sounds cool, I don't have access to therapy in real-life... other the crappy school therapist who almost got fired for suggesting to a girl she was destined to work at mcdonalds. really more than aything its nice to be able to get my questions answered and to vent a little on here, but I don't get a lot of access to this site because Im not openly gay and my parents/this town would frickin murder me if they knew.

Being in the closet is hard, as you're having to keep your real self out of the public eye. The only people who are aware of my own bisexuality would be the people on this site. And while it's nice to have someone know, I'm sure that feeling doesn't amount to what it's like to have someone whose actually close to you know.

If you're going to have to go solo about this, I've always found writing to be helpful to me. Write down my feelings, what's going on, etc. I don't write using a diary format, just kind of a bunch of juxtaposed paragraphs dealing with my own thoughts; so you don't have to feel all campy being that guy with a diary. Immerse yourself in some type of sport or hobby, anything that you can escape into.

Do not keep this for yourself. Write it down and talk with people, so you are actually on a good way by writing that post you did. The best would be to see a therapist indeed, but it's hard finding one. All the stuff that's happening is too much for you to handle, so don't try to do it alone. Find a therapist, or at least people you can talk to.

I feel depressed most of the time being gay generally is tough, especially if your family is homophobic and if you have some other problems then life gets really hard at times. Just be strong and maybe find yourself a nice gay friend

i've always tried to find productive things to escape into. I was obsessed with geography, then history, and now politics. I write for my schools newspaper in the opinion section and I've slowly been pushing a message of Libertarianism. Libertarianism is lovely to me because it believes in small government and indidvidual rights. I've been writing in a journal for... i think a year now, it has helped some. And... I do have a "nice gay friend" i think you have all read my post about experimenting, lol.

Simple but to the point I guess... am I allowed to use this thread to express my emotions of my day? because i don't want to have to censor anything, everything truthful and out in the open

It'd be nice to have something I can be that honest on and get some advice with.
