Ive got interviews lined up at 2 restaurants. One being Red Robbin the other is Ruby Tuesdays. The catch is which one do you think gets the most crowded. And which one will i be able to make the most in tips at? The thing is Ruby Tuesday has higher priced menu items, but Red Robin is located RIGHT at the local mall near me. All the teens who go to the mall seem to go there on friday and saturday nights. Which route do you think would be more profitable??

Plus ruby tuesdays has better food for me to eat on break =p=p

higher priced = more up class people = more likely to tip.

I rarely tip, im just as poor as waiter.

Don't rely on young people to tip well. Most of them don't.

I would go Ruby Tuesday but see what you get offered and go with that.

To be honest, I'm a waiter at a local diner and from what I hear, diners are the best way to go. If it's a busy diner, that is not a franchise then you're more likely to get good tips as there's less staff on shift at one time and you get more tables. If I were to work 3 good business shifts on weekends, I could expect to make around $450 in tips. A good waiter can expect to make $15 an hour in tips if it's steady business throughout his shift.

From what you're telling me, if I had to pick one I would pick Red Robin, as the ambiance is much more enjoyable, it's a relaxed setting, and contrary to what others have said in the thread, it doesn't matter if young people don't tip well. If you have 5 tables of young couples that leave you 5 dollars apiece, you just made 25 bucks in 45 minutes in tips. It stays steady like that, you'll be in good shape.

The diner I work at is very average, we don't get rich people in, I get an average of 3 or 4 dollars per table for a tip. Common sense tells me that I'd be better off to get 6 tables that leave me 3 bucks apiece, rather than 3 tables that leave me 6 bucks apiece. More chance to screw something up with those tables, in my opinion.

That last bit isn't necessarily true, as with less tables you can give better service, but that's my opinion. Is this your first waiting job?
    Yeah, I'm broke.

Choose the restaurant that is frequented more often by individuals who have large pocketbooks and and equally large propensity to get intoxicated. Drunk people, as my cousin has been able to show me from his job, are jackpots when it comes to leaving tips
