I expect some of the Canadians and Americans here will have heard of Our Lady Peace (Americans because of David Cook's performance on American Idol, he sang a rendition of their hit Innocent; Canadians because they're supposedly one of Canada's most famous musical exports).
I absolutely love their music.
I know there are many people out there who also like their music but in most discussions I've held with other OLP fans the general consensus seems to be that their early albums - the days when Raine Maida used his powerful falsetto voice and Mike Turner was the driving force behind their music - are much more liked than that of the more recent stuff, including the new album just out.
Of course, most people will love the early, raw enthusiasm of the albums:
- Clumsy
- Naveed
- Spiritual Machines
- Happiness... Is Not a Fish You Can Catch
And many of the others will like the darker stuff:
- Gravity
- Healthy In Paranoid Times
- Burn Burn
But my question is (if you know of them), what are your thoughts?
Most will say they arguably got 'worse' when Mike Turner left and Bob Rock took over as producer and I'd probably agree. But I still like their new stuff.
My favourite songs are probably:
- Denied
- Naveed
- Car Crash
- One Man Army
- In Repair
- Made to Heal
etc.
Any fans?
