I don't know if this forum allows for this, so.. mods if you feel it's appropriate, move this baby away. But in the guidelines, posted by Chris, there is mention of "no general drug discussion".... now I don't know if that applies to drug culture as well. The purpose of this thread is to discuss movies based on drugs, drug use, and drug related crimes/deaths, and what you thought about them, and if you felt there was merit to the portrayal of the substance, its effects, and its consequences.
As for mine, I have a couple of favorites:
1) Amphetamines/Heroin~ Requiem for a Dream
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The plot is so intense, that you become immersed in it. Watching this actually made me decide to quit speed and cut back on virtually all of my drug abuse. I'd say it's pretty spot on, and accurately portrayed.
2) LSD~ SLC Punk
This movie is so incredibly kickass, you have to see it for yourself! I felt it was pretty realistic.
3) MDA/Cocaine/Cannabis/Barbiturates/and more~ Studio 54
While the greater plot focuses on an individual's "rise to success", and the story of the true ending of Studio 54, drug use is rampant. I'd say a good 1/4 of this movie is just about trading, selling MDA, taking bumps, or popping barbiturates "to calm down".
4) Ecstasy~ Rolling
This move is insane!!!
5) Heroin~ Trainspotting
