Talking mainly to the Brits, but of course anyone can answer, how would you feel about Bliar becoming the first President?

I expect it's a way to sell the EU to the UK, but it's so going to back fire, they obviously don't realise he isn't well liked.

I also can't believe the post is being created, I have doubts about the length of time the Czech Republic is going to take, but if it's longer than 6 months I'm going to Prague next year

European President actually sounds ridiculous. It's like something from an American blockbuster, written by a Yank with no concept of European politics. "Everybody has a President, right? And the countries are just like our states, right?"

He'll have no real power i reckon. It'll be one of those typical jobs where it's all prestige and show without any substance - which will probably suit Blair actually!

Lots of European countries have presidents... it's not solely a US thing.

Yeah, but that's separate countries. The assumption I meant to imply was that this European President would be the equivalent of the US President, which I don't think will be the case.

It's the equivalent of the US president. If you want to 'talk to europe' you talk to old Bliar, without the need to talk to the people who matter.

You know what's even worse? He's appointed, not elected by us, therefore is not accountable to us. It's a sham!

With the 'passing' of the Lisbon treaty, a treaty designed to further integrate Europe into a USE or, as I prefer, an EUSSR, the post of European President has been formed, and the top candidate for the job is apparently Tony Bliar.
I'm sure you Americans don't see anyting wrong with this since you did the same type of thing back in the 1800s with the westward expansion, but it's so undemocratic it's laughable. It's like, this can't be true, but hey ho it is.

Oh bullocks. If this is a real and not a ceremonial position then God, not Blair. I hate the idea to the core, but if it has to exist then we can do better than that gladhanding, warmongering Cheshire cat.

- I hate bliar with a passion
- He will reduce the amount of pro-europeanism in Britain
- I would prefer him that someone who isn't English

In no way at all would i support Blair becoming the President of Europe, i dislike the very notion that such a post can even exist, let alone with that complete utter twat in the seat; i will never accept him.

In fact i'd be glad if we left Europe entirely after Lisbon.
