    Default The Lisbon Treaty

Friday 2nd October, the Irish people shall be asked to vote again on the controversial Lisbon treaty. if ireland vote yes the treay will be ratified if nom then it cannot be passed and it will be scrapped.

What do people feel about the referednum this time round?
will it be a case of a big no vote again and make europe very very mad at us or shall we embrace our European Counterparts to the dismay of those who say we are surrending to the will of the EU if we vote yes?!

for info on what exactly the lisbon treaty is

For true hatred to exist ignorance must also exist.

We have a thread on this already

And you think they'd scrap it just because you said no twice? Hahaha, how naive, these people don't understand democracy, what were you thinking The reason that it would be killed off is because Britain would have a referendum and we're too big and powerful to be forced to vote again. And as shown in several polls, around 80% of us don't want the treaty ratified, it's as good as dead if we get a-hold of it

Oh and that first link is so incredibly bias. They don't seem to mention that it's quite possible that showing dissent to the EU could become a crime, that Ireland doesn't need to vote on any further treaty as it's self amending and basically the only way out of anything further is to leave the EU, but of course, they don't want you to know about that, so much for this:

Following the referendum, the Government commissioned in-depth research in order to identify the reasons behind the outcome. The research showed that most people want Ireland to remain fully and actively involved in the EU, with 70% believing that membership is a good thing and only 8% disagreeing. The research also illustrated that the main reason cited for voting No was a lack of information and knowledge (42%). Of those who decided to abstain from voting, 46% did so for this reason.
Seems they want you to vote yes by believing you are informed but don't actually know have of what the treaty entails.

Edit: Oh my god this is bias :/

It is not who is right, it is who has been duped into believing what.

If it's passed, Ł280million is being spent on the EU president's building. As if two parliaments aren't expensive enough!

It is not long off the Lisbon Treaty vote in Ireland 2nd October 2009. If the Irish vote yes then and the final EU treaty has been ratified our new President of Europe will be Tony Blair.
All the parties - Conservative,Labour,UKIP,Lib-Dems and SNP may just as well disband as they will cease to be of any consequence. They will not be permitted to stand for election to the European Parliament neither will the Scottish or Welsh National Parties as there will be no Wales or Scotland.Only pan-EU parties will be allowed - such as the EPP.
There is also a reputed draft EU Directive that will make it a CRIMINAL OFFENCE to do or say anything that is deemed hostile to the EU. This should become apparent after the Irish vote YES. There is a European Union Court case that essentially makes it illegal to criticise the European Union. Also a rapidly gathering trend to exploit the Health & Safety Act, Anti - Terror Laws and " political correctness" as excuses to surpress free speech. The European Commission also wishes to control what journalists can say and even who can become a journalist.
I've seen this, and many people have said it's true so I believe 'em

So, according to you, if the No vote succeeds, it wont be because it was the right way to vote it will be because the No campaigners duped the people into voting that way? Fair enough, thats the way Ive been thinking all along anyway

So instead of voting for Chris Davies as a lib dem, I vote for him as a member of ELDR instead? The absolute horror.

If he stood as that yes. But still, I'd want to vote for UKIP as UKIP not as whatever it would be.
