Default German swimming pools / saunas

I'm going on a school trip to Munich next month and on the agenda are visits to a public swimming pool and a sauna (separate days). I heard that customs in these places are different from at home.
In public swimming pools in Germany, it is customary to shower (in an open shower room) without swimwear on? And in changing rooms, do people use cubicles for changing, or do you normally undress in front of others? I wouldn't be very confortable about people seeing my body.
And do German teenage boys really go to saunas? At home, saunas are only for middle-aged people (maybe with tiny children in tow).

I don't live in Germany, but live in Holland, which is comparable I think. You probably just shower with your swimwear on, but it might indeed be possible that you have to change clothes in front of everyone. Go to p101 if you have problems with that. It's also possible you'll have seperate stalls.

I don't think sauna's are very common to use for teenage boys, but it's not really weird either. It's just Germany, it's really not a very weird country, sauna's or showers won't kill you (anymore)

Many people shower without swimwear, but you needn't do it.
Every common swimming pool has common cublices (mostly used by families) and private ones.

    hahahaha

Why would you care if the custom is to shower with or without swimwear on? Just do what you feel comfortable doing. Nobody is going to arrest you if you shower with your trunks on.

And I'm sure there is at least 1 place at the pool where you can change behind a locked door, even if it is a stall.

Communal showers are very common in europe. Everyone is buck naked in the communal showers! There are usually no cubicles for showering or changing!
I'm not sure about Germany, but suanas are used by everyone in Sweden and Norway. Everyone is nude in the sauna!
