PS3 or Xbox 360?

I've read up quite a bit on both but just thought I would get an opinion off some of you lot

I've decided Im going to get an Xbox 360 Elite or PS3 Slim 80Gb.

I priced it all up and I get get an Xbox 360 elite with everything I need (hardware wise + 12 month XL gold) for £268. I can get a PS3 with everything I need for £229.99.

Just need to know which is best? Im not a hardcore gamer, I just like to play mainly online and usually FPS (COD).

Im thinking the PS3 because 1. its cheaper, 2. Free online + free upgrades for games.

Since the PS3 is now cheaper. Get it, you dont have to pay for the online and it plays Blu Ray movies. This new ps3slim is a great thing for Sony, this is going to save ther business. Go for the PS3.

Well, are you planning on playing online with friends? I've found the Xbox to be a much easier system to be able to play with friends (ie. Party system, etc.). However, with the recent price drop of the PS3, it's worth it if you are just getting it for casual play.

I dont really play with friends. I'm more of a lone gamer . Think I might go for the PS3. We already have an Xbox 360 in the house.

If you're a 'lone gamer' then PS3 should be perfect. Xbox is catered towards the online Multiplayer with friends, whereas the PS3 is more of a random selection. Plus if you play more single player games, you can buy a cheap market hard drive and not folk out tons of money for a MS hard drive. And want to stream Iplayer/films/tv songs (coming soon) and general multimedia then PS3.

Yeah go for the PS3 Slim. Sound like the better option for you

My only gripe with the PS3 is that it often allows me to play with people, for free, online all over the world. But then it doesnt let me play multiplayer with my friend who's sat next to me in the same sodding room.

Xbox is the other way around. Good if ive got some friends over, but i'm not paying money to play games online

Buy the PS3, now that it is cheaper, plays BluRay, and has free online, it is now the obvious choice. I love my 80GB Backward Compatible one And firmware 3.00 came out today

I'm more than willing to pay the $6 every month for the party system and all of the bells and whistles of Xbox Live, but that's just me.

The way I see it, $6 a month is $72 per year, which is about the equivalent of one game every year. The sheer amount of replay value that I get out of Xbox Live means that I can get away with buying less games, and for me at least, that more than makes up for the $72.
