Warning... im in a good mood, and when this happens - i tend to have some colourful vocabulary

Well, as some of you know - i referee Domestic (Seniors/Juniors) and Junior State Basketball in Perth... and my god - these people act like they are playing for fucking sheep stations!

SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!!!

Not to mention, when there is 1 referee - it isn't their decision to go ref on their own, its more of a "Congradulations, you are reffing on your own" situation. If 2 referees can't see everything, what chance in all fucking hell does 1 have??? When someone is refereeing on their own, they are going to do their best to see as much as possible, but we aren't going to see everything!

For example: I had 1 absolute dipstick today, who claims he set up legal defence, and was struck in the chest by an opponent (who was in the process of shooting)... which i actually didn't even know he was there till he and the other player were flat on their asses after the collision... now, i didn't see this because i had a player of the same team as the guy who was defending between me and him... a rather wide bloke - and i didn't actually know he was there. now if i have not seen his defencive position, i can't make a judgement based on that - for obvious reasons!

Now, I was this close (holds up fingers) to kicking this dickhead out after he had some kind words to me after another attempt - now let me make one thing clear - one foot off the ground, moving sideways is not legal defence... NO REFEREE WOULD EVER CALL THAT... NOT EVEN SOMEONE ON THEIR FIRST DAY - IM NOT AN IDIOT... I DONT WEAR STRIPES BECAUSE THEY JUST SAY IM A REFEREE!!! (Side note: to wear official BWA stripes you have to be qualified)

I mean seriously - we had a guy last week who wanted to enter a fight with one of the senior referees (Who is a SBL Referee), and is now suspended for 3 weeks with 6 suspended (a whole lot more than we were expecting!)

I had a ref that looked 12 that called a travel on me. Some chump behind me knocked teh ball out of my hands. I caught it again mid air and passed it off. He thought I passed it to myself.

Ask Lynt - im sure he will tell you that a ref will go with what he sees in all circumstances (more or less)

the brilliant thing about refereeing is when you're right you're right and when you're wrong, you're still right

i'm guessing this was in a domestic game.. and with that comes all sorts of dickheads. you couldn't convince them of anything, because they know nothing about basketball i know how hard it is reffing on your own. i would have told him that if he doesnt have his feet on the ground, obviously he didn't get there first

Was reffing wheelchair basketball... and there was one guy who was being an absolute prick to me for the entire game (11 Blue)

at a time out i spoke to my Co-Official (Who also happens to be my Cheif Ground Instructor at WAAC), and asked:

Me: "so, 11 blue, is he a wheelcats (Perth National Wheelchair Basketball League Team) player or something?"
CO: "11 blue? nah *pause* he's the captain of the rollers (Australian Wheelchair Basketball Team)"
