Default Where do you want gaming to go?

The future of gaming is starting to shape up. With Microsoft developing Natal and Sony developing there 'wand' gaming is certainly going to change.

I started think about this and came to the conclusion I really don't want it to.

If you think about it, most of us are teenagers in not very large room's. Where are we going to have room to jump up dance around.

Plus, most of are lazy , so who would want to start jumping around anyway!?

Anyway, your thoughts on the future of gaming?

I say, theres nothing wrong with it!

Well, I don't believe Natal is mandatory. I personally am not at all interested in it. I bought my 360 for the ability to sit on my bed and kill some peeps on halo, and thats all I ever intend to do

I know it wont be mandatory, but game releasers are always looking to utilize the lastest technology.

    Yeah
I've heard Rockband might be going Natal, which is one of my favourite games, which really dissapoints me.

How do we play Fake guitar/drums without the peripherals

I don't want a game dedicated to air guitar

Ive had a stressful, 9 hour shift at work. Pissy customers, i'm tired, and i'm miserable. I walk into my bedroom and turn on the console.

Do you REALLY THINK i'm going to want to play my game by jumping and dancing?

I want to play games to relax. You cant relax while you're stood up and waving your arms around. This is the reason i sold my Wii. It was purely a useless gimmick. Fun for OOOH 5 days? But after that i got bored and fed up with having to use the motion controls for everything.

I dont mind consoles using that motion sensing, as long as they offer the same game with ordinary controller controls.

Personally I would like to see more co-operative play or online play. Just think of what could be done!
    • A legend of Zelda game were Zelda comes to Link for help BEFORE she gets bloody kidnapped, and then you play co-operative with player 1 controlling Link, and player 2 controlling Zelda/Sheik.
    • A proper Pokemon RPG, maybe even a MMORPG, where you run around in a 3D world visiting town to town collecting badges, AND seeing wild pokemon walking around (not random battles like the gameboy versions). Maybe challenge other Trainers running around the world to a pokemon battle. I'd want it Cel-Shaded, i'd be happy for it to look quite similar to the cartoon.
    • A really good Batman game, as in, REALLY good, with controls like the new Arkham Asylum game.. but free roam in a huge Gotham City like you could in Spiderman 2. Player one, Batman. Player two, Robin.
    etc etc etc
Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
    Dance like nobody is watching.

That sounds like a really fun game, almost like the TV shows.

    Full fledged VR.

I want to see complete player integration with the gaming environment through some sort of headset or something to that effect.

All NPCs could react to a certain set of commands from the gamer, be it verbal or gesture based. In-game combat would probably be tricky, because pain sensations in a game would be a no-go for simple entertainment purposes. Maybe there could be something like a tingling or something?

If the game were an RPG, then character development would be epic The player could actually see his avatar's (his own!) muscles grow and his agility and such could improve in-game, all whilst feeling natural.

And let's not forget sex with ultra hot video game characters .

In all seriousness we're probably at least a few decades out from any technology like this, but I hope we have it within my lifetime.

I just want even better graphics/gameplay and the retention of some sort of controller. The idea of having no controller doesnt appeal to me.

Well in terms of FPSs, I really would like to see a lot more MMOs and a way to lock down on cheating/hacking.

More immersive, more realistic, better graphics, larger scale games, VR, awesome shit. I want to get to the point where I can make the soldier do exactly what I want, exactly how I want it. I'm tired of three stances and walk jog or sprint. I want to be able to clmb over low obstacles, use low walls as cover, fire over my cover without exposing myself. I want larger scale battles with better AI. Overall I just want all of it to be bigger, look better, have more features, and perfrom better.

I 100% agree on everything there! A Pokémon MMORPG would be awesome. I loved the Gameboy games.

We have an Xbox 360 and a Wii. The Wii hasnt been turned on in 2 months+ whereas the Xbox is on 12 hours a day!

Motion Control is gimmicky and stupid.

which is one reason why I'm not too crazy about motion control seeing as how I have a small room

honestly, motion control is nothing more than a gimmick and hopefully one that wont last too long

I want to see games that continue to have more interaction with the game world. A lot of games have pushed the edge like Assassin's Creed where you could climb on just about anything. I like this concept and would like to see it extended to being able to interact with objects, NPCs, etc.

I also want to see the idea of morality pushed more into a real life gray area. Mass Effect hinted at this by not always having clear cut good/bad decisions. Game characters shouldn't all be alike so what's evil to one could be good to another.

Honestly, I'm not too excited about getting more physical when I play games.

He knew she was there by the rapture and the terror that seized on his heart. She was standing talking to a lady at the opposite end of the ground. There was apparently nothing striking either in her dress or her attitude. But for Levin she was as easy to find in that crowd as a rose among nettles.... The place where she stood seemed to him a holy shrine, unapproachable, and there was one moment when he was almost retreating, so overwhelmed was he with terror.... He walked down, for a long while avoiding looking at her as at the sun, but seeing her, as one does the sun, without looking."
