    Default Friends doing drugs

I have two friends that do drugs nearly every weekend. One gets the drugs and the other just does it with him (to look hard and fit in).

I haven't got a problem with them doing it. They're both adults and know the consequences, however I've told them that they're never to bring or do any in my house. They took some to a friends house and did it there, without my friend knowing, so instead of telling my friend, I just told them that if they ever did it again, I'd be letting everyone know what they're doing and basically they can take a run and jump.

Yesterday, my friend had friends round his house because it was his 18th. I couldn't make it because I'm working. My friend (who's birthday it was) rang me this morning and told me he caught one of them sniffing in his bedroom.. he told him to stop and he thinks he did (my friends not one to chuck people out of his house, like i would have). He said his mum also came home this morning (she popped home last night to get something) and she said she saw (friend1) sniffing in the garden and that he's not to come back...

They're good friends of mine, but they're disrespecting what people are telling them and I feel that they're going to get us into trouble at some point (they're doing this in pubs/clubs often when I'm there).

I know I should just not go out with them and avoid them, but I've known them for a long time and gone through school with them.

Well it feels a little better to let that out...

Why don't you show them the ramifications of their actions? If they're going to continue to violate the rules in your house, for instance, don't invite them. I know you say you don't want to lose contact with them, so hopefully this would just make them realise that they have to abide by other people's rules when they're in their houses. As for going out, I guess maybe talk to the one who just does it to fit in? Maybe try to get 'em to see some sense, and then they can talk to the other guy. To be honest, I'd not invite 'em out at all, fuck that, if you're caught all around a bunch of people sniffing then you're lobbed out and barred - not worth the hassle.
    Reject the premise.

What are your motivations? You say you're not concerned/have a problem with them doing it, but I think that's not true. If it were, you really shouldn't care so much about the other things they do; you and your other friends are highly unlikely to get into trouble due to them, even if they're doing cocaine at people's homes or in clubs.

If you're truly just worried about your own safety... don't worry about it, just don't be sitting right in the room when they're racking up a line. If this has more to do with their use of cocaine itself, then the discussion is more complicated.

If you're really that uncomfortable with it and they won't stop, ditch them. They have more love for the cocaine then for their friends, they're not worth your time.

I don't agree with the logic that they must be incurably changed by the drug if they refuse to change their ways for to meet their friend's request. That doesn't mean they care more about coke than their friends. I care a ton about my friends, but there's all sorts of things in my life - less important to me than my friends - that I might not change just because a friend asked me. Valuing friends doesn't mean every part of one's life must be subservient to them.
