Normal is a subjective word that we all define on our own. Basically, there is no reason for you to not masturbate anally outside of your own personal choices not to. If it is what you want to do, and does not cause harm in anyway to anything, then people should not be able to object to you doing it.

The anus is sensitive tissue, and can be bruised or torn if you're not careful. So use lube, go slowly, don't use something too big your first time, and stop if it hurts too much (though a certain amount of pain is to be expected). And... have fun.
