I'm always searching for music and trying to extend my tastes. I love finding obscure stuff

Right so, this is the bleepy bloop music. I guess Toro y Moi wouldn't be considered obscure, but I'd be surprised if many people, if anyone, had heard of him. He does funk, chillwave, electronic stuff and I've fallen in love with it, it's so warm and layered. It's contemporary but still nostalgic for a 70s disco or something, the cheesey little "pow pow pow" sound effects. I should be seeing him at a music festival next year and I'm pumpppppped.

I had heard this song (Helicopter) by Deerhunter on their album and my first few listens didn't really draw in. It sounded kind of clunky in its arrangement of songs, jumping between these dense soundscapes and Lennon-esque rock tunes. I listened to it again recently and it suddenly turened around completely. The mix still feels ecclectic, maybe not so strong as a whole, but the songs themselves are very enjoyable.

Again, the music is very warm, which is good - generally I'm listen more to something like Radiohead where the soundscapes are generally much darker.

Toro y Moi--All Alone is such a wonderful slice of music.

Nicolas Jaar has a new EP out, Don't Break My Love, which is awesome. If you've not heard of him:

That should be a good intro.

I really like that, it makes me think a little bit of Shlohmo.

I'll have to see if I can find some of his stuff around the place. The organ sound is sooo good. It sits so well beneath the highs of the percussion.

Ahhh, my friend loves Shlohmo. This friend is basically my identikit for music, so we just bounce ideas around.

    I offer:

And a side project with Mike Slott (who is also fabulous: Mike Slott - Gardening (Proper version) - YouTube ):

As for that Darkside link: thank you ;D. Some people have the midas touch when it comes to production, and Jaar is one of them (especially when people point out things to me I wasn't aware of).

That stuff makes me think of groups like Animal Collective and even some Flying Lotus. But especially Rustie.

This song came out awhile ago and I've just found it again and giving it a listen. One of the only collaborative song that I really like.

Well this is vaguely delightful. I had a few tracks in a sort of "remember to investigate this" playlist, but kept ignoring them. Will go back now instead. (Also, Neon Indian are wonderful).

    Being played at the moment...

Slow BY Twin Shadow. Sort of 80s throwback, but with a very contemporary flavour.

Very unique voice, sort of hard to digest, but fits very nicely with the chilled sounds in the accompaniment.

Dub-steppy, blippy, robot englishman. Mhmmmmmm James Blake....

Yeah I can never get into Washed Out. They did a coffee shop gig I wanted to go to, but it was 4000 miles away and ever since then I've been on a downer towards them.
