I was wondering if anyone here ever does anything to mark this day.

    No.

It's mostly a government formality. I think there's a small service in Montreal (the day was prompted as a commemoration of the Montreal Massacre), and all federal offices fly their flag at half mast, but the vast majority of Canadians are probably totally unaware of the day. I only keep track of national days of remembrance because they fly the flag on Parliament Hill on half mast, and every time they do, I think the Queen has died.
Officially fabulous, and practically perfect in every way.

I find it unfortunate that few know about it. Perhaps if the day were pushed more then that might encourage people to take action and that might lead to less violence against women.
