Lump on Penile Shaft
Over the past few months I have recognized a lump on about the middle of the penile shaft, not thinking much of it the lump would never cause pain to my penis or when masturbating. The last few days I'm not sure if the lump has grown or shifted places but it seems sensitive to the touch when erect and also causes pain when I tried to masturbate so I immediately stopped. Any ideas of what this may be?

Re: Lump on Penile Shaft
Do you masturbate lots? Cos it could be raw from that, but it doesnt really sound like that is the problem if its a big lump. I think the best advise you can get here is to ask a doctor, it will probably be nothing, but better safe then sorry, and at least he/she will be able to actually see it and have a good idea at whats going on rather then us just guessing, I definatly recommend seeing your doctor

Re: Lump on Penile Shaft
Hmm, since it's been there for a few months, I don't think it could be a penile pimple.
But since it is causing pain, I'd be a little concerned. As Mason said, you could just be raw.

Noticing a lump in the penis can be a frightening experience. Men are often concerned that they have developed a cancer.
Cancer within the penile shaft is very rare indeed, while Peyronie's disease is by far the most common cause of such lumps. If you find a lump, it is important to seek prompt medical advice, but you should not be too fearful that a serious cause will be found
Please take notice of the bold.

Dear Joe kelly,
The presence of a penile lesion tends to be more disconcerting to most men than a lesion elsewhere in the body. The primary concern is whether the lesion is cancer or not. There are both benign and malignant lesions that may be found on the penis. In either case no diagnosis can be made without the benefit of a physical exam and a full history.
Given your history of no sexual activity, a sexually transmitted process can be ruled out.
Some general information about penile cancer is as follows:
The average age at diagnosis is about 60 years( ranging from 15 to 92 years). The presenting symptoms consists of a penile mass, lump, or nodule in 47% of patients; a penile ulcer or sore in 35% of patients; ansd an inflammatory or bleeding lesion on the external surface of the penis in 17% of patients.
There are associated risk factors in the development of penile cancer. Some are as follows: age( uncommon below age 25); circumcision( much lower rate of cancer in those circumcised, especially if done during infancy, and only a slightly higher rate if circumcised between 4 and 9 yrs. of age); race( more common in blacks than whites. This may be a manifestation of socioeconomic or environmental factors rather than genetics); venereal diseases and hygiene( history of venereal disease in up to 22% of patients with penile cancer).
What you have described may be a totally benign and unremrkable process, it is, however, important for you to see a urologist, especially since it has been present for only a few months.

Re: Lump on Penile Shaft
no I wouldnt say I masturbate that much once every two to three days maybe more on occasion. I've always recognized I have had this bump or lump but it never has hindered my ability until the past few days. I just found it strange that every time before I had no problem with the motion I use to masturbate but a few days ago this lump made it hurt.

Another possibility is that you are going to hard on your penis. Are you rough on yourself when masturbating? It could be raw from masturbation, and this could be telling you to slow down, or stop for a while.

Re: Lump on Penile Shaft
If youve always had it, and it is right in the middle, it could be related to the vein in your penis, in which case you should definatly see a doctor

No most times I would not really consider myself rough while masturbating maybe occasionally yes and I plan on stopping for a whilee to see how it goes. As I take a look at it, maybe a bulging of a circular like vein? I'm not suree but I plan on seeking a doctor sooon thank you for the help Nick. and Mason

No problem, please do take care of this matter as soon as possible. And remember, be calm, this could me nothing, but you want to be on the safe side, right? So, stay calm, keep a level head, and you'll be fine.
Good luck.

After reading/loooking at this site http://www.channel4.com/health/micro...gramme4_1.html
To be honest it does loook like I have a less severe lump than the one in the picture but yes at the same place. But I have no noticeable curvature to my penis so I'm still not sure if it maybe the begginning signs of Peyronies (which would be rare according to the doctors considering I'm only 17) or maybe something having to do with a vein but I guess I will plan to have it checked out soon.

Re: Lump on Penile Shaft
Due to kind of vague descriptions, I would say the best thing for you to do would be to go see a doctor. Besides he's the one with the framed diploma on the wall, whereas we don't. So if it's truely important, a doctor would be a better idea anyway.
