3 years on. It's gone quite quickly.

This is just a tribute to the memory of all those who died in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and Pentagon, and to those who died while bravely stopping further attacks over Pensylvania. Feel free to post your opinions on here.

Thankyou.

That was a sad day for everyone in the United States as we saw what terrorist can do to a country.

Sad day, but come on. All it did was remove the illusion of America's invunerability. I think the Genocide going on in Africa is way worse, and hundreds, maybe thousands of incidents have been worse than september 11th.

9/11? Man I thought this was a tribute to the death of Peter Tosh :)

Well as sad as it is, 9/11 piss's the fuck out of me because I love how something like that had to happen to get the united states to be so temporairly patriotic.

Canada is seriously like 30% more patriotic than the USA.

I woke up late the morning of September 11th. I mean, like 5 minutes before the bus was coming. I ran to the stop with my bag and two pop-tarts. When I got on the bus, my friend Kane asked me if I'd heard the news. I thought he was just yanking my chain... I absolutely could not believe it had happened. We were all scared that this was just the beginning... Even though I'm not an American, we were all scared on 9-11.

We didn't know what was going on, other than something had happened, rumours popped up saying that Toronto had been attacked, no it was Paris, or London, no Moscow had been bombed, or LA or countless other cities. Our teachers didn't want to worry us by saying what had happened but we still managed to find out that a big city had been attacked. This is one of the things that you’ll never forget.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Our teacher told us exactly what had happened, she figured it was the best way to keep people from panicking. See, it happened at about 7 AM out West, so everyone who turned on the TV before going to school saw the news.

we moved from class to class watching cnn or whatever channel was on. We did a bit of critique of the live coverage in my journalism class, which was the last of the day. Even in the little town in west virginia that I was in, it was still extremely saddening. There was a vigil on the high school football field that night.

The next day, a French Newspaper proclaimed "We are all Americans"... we had the world on our side...

God Bless America. Some people don't live in a country where they can speak their free mind. Everyone in those 2 buildings gave their lives so we can continue to live ours.

Embaressed, I allowed that guy to confuse me. Sorry, I got the terms "god bless" mixed up, two similar posts use it. SORRY! :byetears: (forgive?)

What eightfours10 did was wrong, and sorry for thinking that you were him. My posts are now edited to correct my silly mistake.

Hey, it's alright. It was a simple mistake, I was just sort of confused as to how my post was political. Now I understand. No problem, don't worry about it Faster ;) And I do agree with you, bringing politics into this mess is wrong.

Thanks, there was a really interesting editorial today in the New York Times Magazine. It was about how we should get over 9/11 otherwise politicians will continue to abuse it for support.

There is a thread currently up, called "Happy Patriot Day!", started by someone who clearly seeks (hopefully unwillingly) to take advantage of 9/11 to glorify the US government.

I was in school at the time, shops class to be PRECISE, but when it was lunchtime, the teachers wouldnt let us watch it on TV in the student lounge (I was at a religious school at the time) but I listened to it on my walkman.

May they rest in peace

I was in school when this happened. Teachers forbid us to turn on the TVs in the classrooms. Bunch of pricks.

Anyways, yeah. real sad, my friend's father worked in the 34th floor. He got out safely tho. Phew.

can never forget this day

I was in history class when another teacher busted into the class and told my teacher what was going on... Then he yelled out "The Pentagon and WTCs were attacked by airplanes!" He proceeded to turn on the TV and that was when we saw live shots of the 1st tower (i think) fall. It was all so confusing and fake lookin that I thought it was a movie. Then we watched it for a while and I watched some more when I got home. Probably the most news in one time period I've watched ever.

a sad day indeed but it shows that just because we are away from places like korea, and the middle east we are just vulnerable to attacks. like some people here i thought it was a joke when my friend told me the wtc was attacked

My mom almost smacked the shit out of the school secretary on 9/11..I was in 7th grade, and my mom came to pick me up (along with everybody else's parents, the line to the office was out the door into the parking lot), and they asked my mom why she was taking me out of school and when she gave them the reason about the attacks, they said that I should just stay in school because it would be safer (Needless to say, about a year later, they caught a suspected terrorist 2 blocks away from the school and had about 3-4 helicopters around it and everything..I was outside for Gym and saw everything)..

But yeah I remember watching the news that morning like I had every morning before school, and they showed the first plane hitting, saying a plane accidently crashed, and then a few minutes later, they had live footage of the second plane, I was stunned..it was crazy shit.

Yesterday at work was pretty crazy also. Everyone took a moment of silence and the manager was giving a small speech and half the place was in tears. I was almost in tears also.

As my manager said, may the men, women, and children live with us in spirit.

i eold like to dedicate this post to accomidate the lyrics to the song that always reminds me of 9/11 and always brings tears to my eyes AMAZING GRACE

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

i like most of the country songs out there that relate to that day and the war in iraq. Those are the most patriotic people in the country. Every one of those songs makes me shiver.
