MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.
Savage was taking viewer phone calls about airline horror stories, and a male caller began talking about smoking in the bathroom.
"Half an hour into the flight, I need to suggest that Don and Mike take your ..." the caller said, before he was cut off and his words became unintelligible.
"So you're one of those sodomists. Are you a sodomite?" Savage asked.
The caller replied: "Yes, I am."
"Oh, you're one of the sodomites," Savage said. "You should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How's that? Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig. You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage. You have got nothing to do today, go eat a sausage and choke on it."
He asked for another phone caller who "didn't have a nice night in the bathhouse who's angry at me today."
Thanks a lot for making Conservatives and Libertarians look like flat-out loudmouthed anti-gay bigots. All you ever where was a parrot for Rush Limbaugh, saying everything he said, with a few notches up on obnoxiousness and a few down on intelligence. I hope any decent Conservative and Libertarian shuns you away from them, like you never existed. I hope to watch your radio show die like all the loudmouthed Rush Limbaugh wannabes before it.
So, for debate, do you think people like Michael Savage ruin the Conservative movement and make the people in it look worse than they actually are?

I think they do. But I also think conservatives are generally anti-gay and thus morons for being prejudice of love between two people.

I HATE Michael Savage!! I dont listen or pay attention to much of the things he says, some how he's always blaming Liberals for all of the problems in America:mad: he makes conservatives look really dumb and ignorant.
Oh well thank god he's gone!! I knew that some day he was going to insult some one and get fired.

Someone please ban TheWitch, his comments are idiotic and bring down the intellectual level of this forum.
Comservatives aren't "anti-gay", atleast not because they disaprove of love between two men. Homosexuality is an issue which is controversial in both right and left political camps. Most conservatives tend to value family and religious values, so they may appear to be anti-gay for that reason, but your comments overgeneralize things. Get educated.
Just because someone disagrees with homosexuality for moral or philosophical reasons DOESN'T make that person hateful, intollerant or bigoted. It is people's actions who make them hateful, not their thoughts.
Thank you.

Shut up, twat. You have no room to judge anyone.
Anyway, I'm glad MSNBC fired him. He's far worse then Rush Limbaugh ever was. At least Limbaugh will usually listen to people(and still act like a ill-informed moron), but still it's at least not as bad. Did you know Micheal Savage's real last name is Weiner? Ahaha, Weiner Nation.

All personal complaints, whether about a moderator or member must first have been attempted to be resolved privately. If not-successful, take your complaint to a Global-Moderator or an Administrator. If it comes to this make sure you build a case, justify it and include links and examples. Neither Global Moderators nor Administrators have the time to search the boards for posts about a certain member if links are not included in your complaint. Failure to support your complaint will probably result in no further investigation into your issue. Never post your complaint publicly on the forums or risk the complaint being deleted without consideration or investigation.

People can do whatever they want in their private life, but those opposed should have every right to say so.

I intend to post any comments from the major talk show hosts on the Weiner Nation and what Michael Weiner said.

Conservatives aren't anti-gay. Some are, but you can't lump them all into one group. Because there are plenty of people in the left that don't agree with it either. I personally don't agree with the homosexual lifestyle, but that's because of my religious views. Plus, I agree that Savage is an idiot and it's good that MSNBC is rid of him.

Here's what another talkradio host, Neal Boortz has to say on the matter:
HERE I GO … SELF DESTRUCTING AGAIN
Get ready .. here goes Boortz once again ranting and raving against the “I hate homosexuals” crowd out there. This means, of course, that over the next few days I will receive a few hundred “I’m never going to listen to you again” e-mails.
The news broke yesterday afternoon about a certain radio talk show host with both a radio and a television show. Well … now he has a radio show only. The cable television network, MSNBC, fired Michael Savage today after certain comments he made on his show.
As best I can piece things together, a gay man managed to get a phone call through to Savage on the air. The caller said something that had to be cut off the air, and the following conversation ensued:
"So you're one of those sodomists. Are you a sodomite?"
"Yes, I am."
"Oh, you're one of the sodomites. You should only get AIDS and die, you pig. How's that? Why don't you see if you can sue me, you pig. You got nothing better than to put me down, you piece of garbage. You have got nothing to do today, go eat a sausage and choke on it."
In the background you could hear some MSNBC studio technicians groaning. As the MSNBC spokesman said, the decision to fire Savage was “an easy one.”
Savage issued an apology (of sorts) on his radio show last night. He said that the comment was not meant to be aired. Sorry … that’s hard to buy. I’ve seen the clip, and I have a bit of experience with broadcasting. There is absolutely no way in the world that Savage didn’t know this comment was going out over the air. If the comment wasn’t meant for the air, perhaps he can explain why he then asked for another caller who “didn’t have a nice night in the bath house and is angry with me.”
What is it about gay men that drive so many of you bat guano crazy? Why in the world would any moderately sane individual say on network television “you should only get AIDS and die, you pig”? I’m no psychologist, but my educated guess is that a statement such as this could only come from someone with a pathological fear of homosexuals. Why else would you harbor such hate for someone who will have minimal effect on your life?
Why bring this up? Why slam a fellow talk show host? Savage is a conservative. His remarks are going to be used by leftists, socialists, fascists, Democrats and the rest of the list of people who hate talk radio to paint all conservative (and libertarian) talk show hosts with the same broad brush. To many, Savage's remarks become the remarks of all conservative talk show hosts. I want my disgust and disagreement to be a matter of record.
By the way ... something for you folks who think this lifestyle is “chosen.” You actually think that some man out there would make a conscious decision to choose a sexual life with other men instead of a woman? Why would he do this? Is he going to make that choice so that he can be subjected to this level of hatred and viciousness?
I have a friend of 30 years, a gay man, who is laying in a Hospice right now. He’s dying. Brain tumor. Every day his room sees a constant stream of visitors from his community, most of them straight. Bankers, real estate developers, business owners, housewives, policemen and college professors --- they all come by to share another moment with this man they came to love and admire. This man is one of my heroes. For over sixty years he has endured this blind, raging hatred with no outward signs of bitterness or resentment and still found a way to make so many people love him unconditionally. If only I were that strong.
NOW ... IN ALL FAIRNESS (For which I am widely known)
The following statement appeared on Michael Savage's website today. We'll just let Michael Savage have the last word:
"What happened on the air is much different than what is being reported. It was in the middle of an airline horror story segment with a great set (see photos above). Out of nowhere a crank caller from a competitive talk show went from describing his airline horror story to making vicious personal attacks against me. I signaled and thought that this crank caller was cut from the air. His insults continued in my ear piece and I reacted to him personally as an individual who was attacking me to defend myself.
"Unfortunately, my personal comments to this crank caller were broadcast. In no way did my comments reflect my views of disease and suffering in any way. I have spent my entire life in the field of alternative medicine trying to heal the world and bring comfort to the sick. If my comments brought pain to anyone I certainly did not intend for this to happen and apologize for any such reaction.
"Let me repeat, this was an interchange between me personally and a mean spirited vicious setup caller which I thought was taking place off the air. It was not meant to reflect my views of the terrible tragedy and suffering associated with AIDS. I especially appeal to my many listeners in the gay community to accept my apologies for any inadvertent insults which may have occurred."
And well, that's that. All the other talk radio hosts are quiet on the subject. They either don't think it matters, or they usually don't talk about such silly things.

I'm glad he got fired, and as for the person who wanted to ban TheWitch, #1, I have more respect for TheWitch than for you, and #2, here on GoV, we can share our opinions freely, and as long as we don't bash, no one should complain.

While his version of events certainly puts a new spin on the story, I don't buy the fact that he meant to say it off air or that he didn't genuinely mean what he said.

It's nice to see another pompous blowhard off the air. Sometimes I think these people take positions ONLY to be belligent and combative, not because they beleive in them. It's rather pathetic someone will say/do things exclusive for attention. Opinions are fine, but I think these guys just turn it up for show...and it's a bit annoying.
None the less, my favorite "political" commentator has to be Adam Carolla. At least when he rants you can enjoy it. :D

You're smarter because you insist that two individuals with no connection to yourself must not do a consentual act because your moral code forbids it? That makes you more of a megalomaniac control freak than anything else.
Why can't people just leave other people the fuck alone? Is that so hard to do?
