i think most of us kinda quit a while ago... and just stop by every once in a w hile to say hi and see who's still around (which, incidentally, is exactly what i'm doing now). :D as an original member of VK, i have to say this site just isn't waht it used to be...

But i would agree that this place is dead.

Is that good or bad? :P
welllllllllll... that's up to you. but I'd say it's great that so many people are now on GT, but it sucks that the original VK-ers have pretty much all gone. I kinda miss the days when I knew pretty much everyone who posted in the countdown forum and stuff like that. :D there's your answer.:D

i think it depends on who you know, sorta. i mean, how many people on this site actually knew antony? or spoke to sam and carol? also, people who were here during the VK days are pretty much the rule for old timers... i joined during the early days of VK, so I'm like... ancient =p

Gov is not dying.
^^ Take her word for it. I've been making up all this random stuff about trying to get GovTeen back the way it was and I've only just found out there's nothing wrong with it.
I joined February this year so maybe I missed out on some of the good stuff that happened. But GovTeen is OK now, despite the fact it seems a little on the... strange side. What with all these random new people and all.

I don't think that the only oldtimers are the ones from 02. You guys are like the Oldschool Oldtimers. But there are some of us who have been here for a very long time as well. I registered in 04 but ive been around GoV for over 3 1/2 years now. That should account for something.
Oh and Davo :( I miss Dee too. We used to talk ALL the time but we both kinda drifted away from here for a while. She lives a few hours from me....too bad shes never on anymore

He was quite rude about Christian though, from reading one his older threads ......
Christian is completely ignorant when it comes to issues on female anatomy. Christian has never had any experience with a woman, let alone a woman's anatomy. Christian reaffirms his beliefs by looking for evidence which pertains to only his point of view. Christian is, in fact, a good christian in all these respects. Unfortunately, none of these attributes lead him to being any more of an authority, or any more correct on his completely incorrect points of view.
Christian does know a fair amount about male anatomy and physiology. Christian should use his knowledge where it applies. Male anatomy and physiology is not female physiology.

He may have come across as being rude but if you think about it and even start to look into some of the evidence supporting his claim you will notice that he isn't very far off base.

Well, I doubt many of you would remember me, but something happened in 2003, lots of the old crowd started leaving and the debates forums got stale. Now they are pretty frightening in their lack of detail or argument; some of the information is just dead wrong. I remember the good old days where there would be epic debates over substantial points, with debates dying not because people got bored over small details but because all the substantive points had been exhausted. Whenever I pop in, people don't seem as keen today to want to engage in argument at that level of sophistication. Though I have seen one or two threats that reminded me of the bad old days.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Perhaps we should try to revive this in some way. If your up to making a debate over something and really exhausting the outlooks and facts on it i would be interested.
the little agitator
Oct-14-2006, 02:16 PM
Well Rebel, we would have to be very careful about the topic picked, something about abortion, drugs, homosexuals or "Bush is bad" is probably a bad idea. Perhaps it would also be a good idea to provide a lot of up front information and provide links for further interest. What would you be keen to debate? I don't know, i'm not sure how the dynamics of the debates forum works, and I think i've already killed on thread in historical discussion by getting too heavy on the info.....or they haven't posted in a number of days.....<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

There are some debates where at least some of the people showed intelligence. Standardstate is actually one person who upholds a good debating style in those threads. I hope to take after him in the debates threads. History there are some decent threads but really its kindof dead looking.

^^ November 2nd, 2006, October 9th, 2006... they can post here and I'm not considered an old timer? Explain the qualifications please, I joined Feb. 14th 2006 and am at 500+ posts which isn't too bad, right?
and once people get bored of the site/busy with other things in their life.....they'll just dissapear
^^ That's probably it, s' what happened to Gee and ParadiseFound/Calcio. And me at one point. Gov is just changing so quickly, and my "generation" so-to speak has come and gone. I got quite busy at one point around August and GovTeen just faded out of my life for a while. When I came back it was all so different, I didn't think I could adapt to this new generationm but I think it's working now.
But that's just me. Well, no one really knows me, I'm one who is not noticed that easily (I managed to keep my signature like 15 lines long for a few weeks after the 10-line limit was put in just by not editing it) and I guess different things are happening to everyone and they all have their own reasons. I miss some of the people though :(
EDIT: PS. Does anyone know what happened to Cªtch²²? (Mod in Club Sandwich, stopped posting in September)

I think the official 'Old Timer Qualification' is if you join before April 14th 2002 which was in the old version of gov. In that case, even im not classed as an old timer but i joined in 2002, and there arent many of us still around from 2002.
that answer your question, Kez? :)
