Mike i think britians are cool and from what i know i like Tony Blair I like most people of the world and try to understand them for who they r sure there are jerks out there but i try not to judge a whole country by what a few ppl do or act like. i am sure most ppl view americans as loud fat and obnoxious but we arent that way....I've never been there but would like to go some day just as id like to go to other countries around the world..

I can't fuckin stand the U.K. After all, most british colonies were given their freedom without doing jack shit(like Canada and Australia, but those are cool countries; no hard feelings towards them) I know there was India that had trouble but only American has to fight a fucking war just to get their point across. All brits think they're 10x better than America in everyway shape and form. Just because they don't get our jokes they think we have no sense of humor. They bitch at us for driving SUV's or whatever vehicle we want cuz the only thing they got are those tiny ass one-man cars. I wish Hitler would've dropped hell of a lot more bombs during the blitz and killed all those british motherfuckers. They like to call of us fat fucks even though there's lazy fat ass people everywhere.

But don't get me wrong, I don't really like America either, (the country, not both the continents) Our government likes to create laws about the dumbest shit, like not legalizing marijuana. They would most likely improve the economy if it was legalized, even if it's a small amount. The one thing the brits are right about is that we have a lot of ignorant people. I know too many people that can't even solve a simple math problem.

In fact, I think patriotism is the dumbest thing ever. It's gone from pride to being an excuse to fuck w/ people who look, feel, or think differently.

I know every country has it's problems and I know this thread asked for views on Britain only but I feel like I had to put this.

I would, though. ;)

I think that most people in the US have very warm feelings for the UK, which I'd say is due to Britain and the US having more in common than the US and any of the other European nations.

Both culturally and politically, there seems to be a lot of common ground on both sides of the Atlantic. The most obvious thing is having a common language, which given that most Americans aren't bi-lingual, is a pretty big deal. Plus you can get British television over here (at least where I live, we get two BBC channels on cable), and I've never seen TV channels or programs from any other countries with as much regularity. (This is on the East Coast, it might be different on the West Coast.)

As I seem to recall it (and, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure you've spend MUCH more time studying Canadian history than I have) it took a good deal of time to get it, and even after we had it we still had to answer to British government on a good number of things. When Canadian women wanted the right to vote (well over 50 years after independence from England) we had to go to the British Government, not our own, in order to get it. Until the 80s we didn’t even have our own constitution; we used the British North America Act. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Canada</st1:place></st1:country-region>’s path to independence was a good deal longer than the United States', more than a hundred years from “independence” to constitution. I dare say America's war was more "jack shit" than our quest.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

The point is thousands of your countrymen weren't killed for your freedom. You could probably count the number of Canadians who died for there freedom (even if there was a little bit of violent struggle) with your fingers. Also, I never did say that Canadian freedom was easier to earn than what the Americans had to go through. Just because it took a hell of a lot longer for your country to earn your freedom doesn't mean it's grander on any scale.
